Part 1 – What is boudoir photography?
Boudoir is a style of intimate, sensual, romantic and sometimes erotic photography. Sitting somewhere between portrait and pinup photography, it most often features subjects wearing underwear or implied nudity and emphasises empowerment and personal beauty.
Boudoir is a French word meaning a woman’s private dressing room or bedroom – somewhere a woman would expect to be alone. This lends boudoir photography an aspect of voyeurism – a peak into a woman’s personal, private space. The subject may often be looking off camera, seemingly unaware that they are having their photograph taken, although meeting the viewer’s gaze is also common.
Boudoir photography is as much about the experience as it is about the images created. It’s an opportunity to explore yourself and your desires, to rediscover your femininity and self confidence, to create a timeless keepsake to gift your partner or yourself.

Part 2 – But what’s kinky boudoir?

At the House of G we recognise that there’s more to sexuality than beauty and femininity. Women can be feminine, but they can also be masculine. Men and non-binary people are also looking for the opportunity to express themselves and find a sense of empowerment and self-confidence. What we do in the privacy of our boudoir is so much more, and kinky boudoir is an opportunity for individuals, and couples, to showcase their sexuality.
Kinky boudoir keeps many of the elements of more traditional boudoir – sensuality, intimacy and romance – but adds other flavours, like submission, dominance and fetishism. The bedroom is no longer a place where an individual goes for privacy, but a place where they invite those they trust the most to share intimate moments and joy. It doesn’t just contain a bed and chaise-longue, there’s a spanking bench, canes and floggers. As well as lingerie, there’s leather and latex and thigh high boots.
There’s still an aspect of voyeurism, but the subject now is aware and playing to the camera – they’re bold and brash, proud and fierce, empowered by their own personal brand of sexuality.
We want the House of G to be a safe space for you to express yourself and your sexuality. A place where you can celebrate and empower yourself.
We invite you to book a consultation and find out what that means for you.
