How to prepare for your boudoir shoot

You’ve had your consultation and booked your session, and now you need to get ready for your boudoir photoshoot.  The tips below will help you prepare and get the most from your session.

A few weeks before…

  • Look for inspiration. Have a look at some of your favourite image sharing sites, and share your ideas with us
  • Think about the scenes we discussed at your consultation, and choose clothes, props, and toys that suit the look you’re going for
  • Spend some time deciding on your favourite outfits and lingerie. Try stuff on and check yourself out in the mirror. We want you to both look and feel your best, so if you’re not 100% feeling it, this could be an opportunity to go shopping!
  • Don’t forget about jewellery, accessories and shoes. The right details will elevate your look
  • If it suits your style, book appointments for hair, nails, eyebrows and waxing a few days before your shoot.  You don’t want to leave it until the last minute and find you can’t get in anywhere!
Avoid fake tan if you can, natural skin looks much better on camera
  • You could prepare a playlist.  Pick tunes that make you feel powerful and sexy.  Music will help you relax and enjoy the shoot. On the day, we’ll be happy for you to connect to our sound system

  • Drink lots of water and avoid alcohol and salty food. Hydration will help your skin glow
  • Speaking of glowing skin, now’s the time to exfoliate and moisturise
  • Remove all the tags from your outfits – even the permanent ones.  The last thing you want is the perfect shot spoilt by a label showing
  • Choose your final outfits
  • If you’re doing your own makeup, do a dry run

The day before…

  • Iron, polish, or otherwise prepare any clothes that need it
  • Pack a bag for the shoot.  As well as your outfits, accessories and toys, you’ll want to bring a hairbrush, hair ties and/or clips. If you’re wearing anything that might ladder, like stockings, pack spares
  • Wash your hair the night before so it’s easier to style in the morning
  • Plan how you’re getting to the studio.  There’s free parking outside and we’re only minutes from the bus stop, but you don’t want to be rushing on the day
  • Have an early night – you want to be well rested for your session

  • Avoid wearing anything that will mark your skin. Tight jeans, socks, even your bra will leave dents on your skin that will be visible in your photos
  • Do your makeup (unless we’re doing it for you), then pop it in your bag in case you need to touch up
  • Eat a light meal.  Having your photo taken posting for photographs takes more energy than you might expect, so eating something will help keep you going
  • Allow plenty of time to get to the studio.  After all this the last thing you want is to arrive late and flustered
