Overcoming Nerves Before Your Boudoir Shoot

It’s completely normal to feel nervous before a boudoir session. In fact, I’d be surprised if you weren’t! Most of my clients arrive with a flutter of butterflies in their stomachs. The good news? Those nerves don’t last long and by the end, they’re usually laughing, posing like naturals, and wondering why they ever worried in the first place.

Boudoir isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being you. The quiet, cheeky, powerful, playful, sultry (or silly!) sides of you – whichever ones you want to bring into the studio. That’s where the magic is.

Why nerves creep in

  • Worrying about how you’ll look.
Everyone has insecurities, and the idea of being photographed in lingerie, latex, or even just a robe can feel daunting.
  • Fear of the unknown.
If you’ve never done a boudoir shoot before, it’s natural to wonder what the experience will be like.
  • Fear of being judged
Many clients worry about how they’ll be seen: by me, or by anyone else. But this is a safe, supportive space. There’s no judgment, only encouragement. My role is to help you see your beauty in a new light.
  • Overthinking outfits and poses.
“Do I need the right lingerie? Should I know how to pose?” (Spoiler: nope. That’s my job to guide you.)

How we melt those nerves away

  1. A relaxed start. We’ll chat over tea or coffee, go through your outfits, and ease into the session. No rush, no pressure.
  2. Guided posing. You don’t need to know what to do with your hands, hips, or eyes. I’ll direct you every step of the way.
  3. The client closet. Don’t stress about what to wear. You can mix your favourites with unique pieces from the House of G wardrobe.
  4. Music & atmosphere. From sultry soundtracks to guilty-pleasure bangers, we’ll set the vibe that makes you feel most at home.
  5. Confidence snowball. Once you see the first few images on the back of the camera, nerves vanish. Clients almost always say: “Wow, that’s me?!”

Remember: boudoir is for everybody

It’s not about fitting into a mould, or looking like someone else on Instagram. It’s about celebrating your body, your style, and your journey; exactly as you are right now.

By the end of the shoot, nerves will feel like a distant memory. Instead, you’ll walk out of the studio buzzing with energy, carrying a little extra confidence in your step (and probably already planning your next session).

So if the thought of stepping in front of the camera makes your stomach flip, know this: you’re not alone. I’ve seen it a thousand times, and I promise — those jitters are just the first step on the way to something empowering, exciting, and a little bit magical.
